A Christmas Carol
Guthrie Theatre
818 South 2nd Street Minneapolis
This perennial favorite directed by Joe Chvala, continues our holiday tradition for the 41st year. A miserly and miserable man, Scrooge resents generosity on all occasions and greets each Christmas with his well-known "bah humbug," until he is visited one Christmas Eve by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Through a restless night, the three spirits show him happy memories from his past, cruel realities from the present and the desolate future should he continue his cantankerous ways.

A Christmas Carol Reviews
Star Tribune - Recommended
"...Joe Chvala’s production opened Thursday night on the same dark, soot-stained representation of Victorian London, with the same brilliant costumes, pageantry, vaudeville, song and poignant moments. Chvala’s vigorous folk-dance choreography complements his unerring eye for balanced stage pictures."

Twin Cities Pioneer Press - Highly Recommended
"...For many, the Guthrie's holiday dose of Dickens is a traditional way to ring in the season of goodwill. For those who have never caught it, there's no time like the present. The show is as generous with holiday cheer as a reformed miser."
