A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
Guthrie Theatre
818 South 2nd Street Minneapolis
Wander with Mark Twain as he time travels from the 19th century to 6th-century England through the eyes of Hank Morgan of Hartford, Connecticut.
After a blow to the head, Hank awakens to find himself transported back to the time of legendary King Arthur, where he astonishes the Middle Age with heroic fireworks, modern medicine and electricity. But will these tricks from the future ultimately hinder or help King Arthur’s Court? Meet Lancelot, Guinevere, Merlin, Mark Twain and more, as they expose the foibles and fortes of both ages.
Adapted by acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher (Stage Beauty, Casanova, Tuesdays with Morrie) and directed by The Acting Company Artistic Director Ian Belknap (Hamlet, The Comedy of Errors), this clever satirical romp is a must-see.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court Reviews
Twin Cities Daily Planet - Recommended
"...Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is an adaptation in the same sense that the movie Jurassic Park is an adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name. The basic concept is the same, some common beats are hit, and much of the rest is entirely its own animal. (No velociraptors were harmed in the making of Hatcher’s A Connecticut Yankee.) The looseness of Hatcher’s adaptation is a strength, producing a satire that is much funnier than a straight adaptation would have been. The Acting Company’s premiere of this play, now at the Guthrie, makes for a light but smartly done evening."

"...Ian Belknap's direction is not spectacularly creative in the way it handles transition and mood, but cleanly moves things along. If you're reverent about Twain, this might not be the production for you, but if you're willing to go along for ride, this staging has its satisfactions."
