In 1880s Indiana, a mysterious doctor swoops into town in a hot-air balloon, promising to cure the citizens' ills in Anatomy of Gray, by Jim Leonard, award-winning author of The Diviners. Described as "a children's story for adults," Anatomy of Gray centers on June, who, after her father dies, prays for a healer to come help her small town. The next thing she knows, there's a tornado, and with it Doctor Gray blows in with cures for just about anything. But soon the town's preacher becomes sick, and it's not long before there's an unknown plague running through town. Lyric Arts presents this unique coming-of-age story about loss, love and healing.
