Hennepin Theatre Trust at New Century Theatre

Star Tribune- Somewhat Recommended

"...Between a corny plotline and a less-than-memorable score, “Calvin Berger” is a slim little piece, and director Joshua James Campbell wisely keeps the pace snappy and the tone light, transitioning quickly from scene to scene. It’s a clever approach that allows an eager cast and sprightly production to eke out some charm from a musical that’s not much at all."

"...Calvin Berger is a musical update of the story of Cyrano de Bergerac. That's a big nose to fill, but the production now playing at the New Century Theatre is smartly done. The music and script are fun, funny, and enough of their own animal so as to not invite too many comparisons with the wonderful poetry of Edmond Rostand's classic play. As Minneapolis Musical Theatre & Hennepin Theatre Trust collaborations go, it's also a story that fits particularly well with the space of the New Century Theatre."

Twin Cities Pioneer Press- Somewhat Recommended

"...The music by Barry Wyner is not particularly memorable, but the tunes are pleasant and his lyrics are often amusing, as in "We're the Man," with its focus on how Calvin's smarts and Matt's looks combine to make one spectacular dude."
