"...The Chanhassen Dinner Theatres cast and crew are firing on all engines with the new production of "Camelot," Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's follow-up to their smash "My Fair Lady." Friday night's opening looked and sounded like a million bucks, which is appropriate given that the original Broadway production earned the nickname "Costalot" when it premiered in 1960."

"...The best thing about the new production of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot (Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, through February 25, 2017) is King Arthur. Keith Rice has everything the role requires and is a delight to watch. He's developed a complex character that is at once capable of boyish charm and mature leadership. Rice boasts a fine baritone voice and an engaging comedic touch. He carries the play from the moment he drops out of a tree in the first act to the end when he knights "Tom of Warwick" (Jay Soulen/Carter Bannwarth) to keep the utopian dream of "Right Makes Might" alive."

Talkin Broadway- Somewhat Recommended
"...As stellar as all three actors are, however, they are helpless to save a play that is badly outdated. I'm accustomed to cutting some slack to musicals from the Golden Age of Broadway, but there are moments in this show that are go well beyond cringe-worthy. Take, for example, the supposedly humorous exchange that occurs in the aforementioned opening scene when Arthur falls down from the tree where had had been watching Guenevere."

"...First the original, then the dark and edgy, now the whimsical. The Camelot that opened last night at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is several steps removed from the original version that opened on Broadway in 1960, winning 4 Tony Awards and running for a then-stellar 873 performances. It is not at all the sort of gritty, Game of Thrones-inspired spin that touched down in St. Paul last year. This vision of the tale of King Arthur embraces self-consciousness, awkwardness, and awkward passion."
