Show Information

Theater Latte Da at Ritz Theater

Star Tribune- Highly Recommended

"...Director Peter Rothstein has assembled a solid cast, beginning with Greta Oglesby’s commanding turn as the Witch. She capably conjures both the bitter crone and the preening diva aspects of her character, while bringing magnificent voice to the nuances of Sondheim’s complex lyrics in both the poignant “Stay With Me” and her sinister exit number, “Last Midnight.”"

Twin Cities Daily Planet- Highly Recommended

"...Just go. There is no reason not to go. Honestly, nothing I'm about to write regarding Theater Latte Da's production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods is going to be aimed at anything other than encouraging you to go. It's fun. It's amusing. It's romantic. It's smart. It's sad. It's everything a good piece of musical theater should be."

Twin Cities Pioneer Press- Somewhat Recommended

"...Greta Oglesby doesn't quite dominate the proceedings the way she might in the marquee role of The Witch, but effects a nice transition between crone and glam queen and offers an affecting delivery of "The Witch's Lament." That last song comes in the perennially challenging second act of "Into the Woods." The show turns suddenly, darkly and unnecessarily complicated in plotting and too many of the songs after intermission exist for their own sake rather than to advance the plot. Rothstein, like many other directors before him, cannot satisfactorily solve the riddle placed before him by the show's creators and so this production of "Into the Woods" -- like many others -- bogs down."

How Was The Show- Recommended

"...Some who have seen various renditions of this show may be asking if they really want to pay for another go. Yet, if this production proves anything, it is that good theater wonderfully reminds us that there is no such thing as a definitive text in this venue, and with enough creative talent, a well-written show can unearth new artistic significance. So with certainly, whether or not you have previously seen a production of this show, you are in store for an impressively original experience, and should saddle up and give it a go. You won't regret the decision."
