Bloomington Civic Theatre presents Singin' In The Rain

Singing In The RainBloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) is thrilled to announce the return of Michael Matthew Ferrell as director for the upcoming Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) production of Singin' in the Rain. Performances will be taking place in the Schneider Theater August 16th through September 15th.

Based on the classic movie, this zany, light-hearted romantic comedy focuses on two movie actors and how they deal with the transition from silent pictures to the early days of sound film. Set in the 1920s, Singin' in the Rain has all the charm, romance, comedy and glamour that Hollywood has to offer, and showers you with soaring dance numbers and a glorious score including "Singin' in the Rain" and "Good Mornin'."

BCT is happy to have Michael Matthew Ferrell return to direct Singin' in the Rain!  Michael is the 2007 Ivey Award recipient for Choreography, and 2010 Choreographer of the Year, Lavender Magazine. Credits include On The Town, 42nd Street and Oklahoma! for BCT; Ragtime and The Fantastics at Park Square Theatre; Aida, Company, Spring Awakening, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Evita, The Full Monty, Parade, Gypsy, The Rink, and Passage of Dreams for Theatre Latte Da; You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Grand Night for Singing and Broadway's Legendary Ladies at Ordway Center; Wizard of Oz, Annie, Babe The Sheep Pig, Tommy, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Disney's High School Musical, A Year with Frog and Toad and Fashion 47 for Children's Theatre Company; Cats, Annie, The Sound of Music, Camelot, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Forever Plaid, Oklahoma! and Can Can at Chanhassen Theatres. Additionally his work has been seen at Minnesota Opera Company, Minnetonka Theatre, Sesame Street, Stages Theatre Company, Pantages Theatre, Disney World Orlando, and Guthrie Theater Cabaret shows. He is also the Founder and Artistic Director of Alive & Kickin, the Twin Cities' newest musical ensemble of Rockin' Senior Citizens!

BCT is a program of the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2009 from the merger of Bloomington Civic Theatre and Bloomington Art Center. BTAC offers high quality theater productions, art education for children and adults, and visual arts exhibitions featuring the work of emerging and established artists from Minnesota and surrounding states.  BCT is proud to be a participating theater in the Twin Cities Ivey Awards.
