Ruby! The Story of Ruby Bridges
SteppingStone Theatre
55 Victoria Street North St. Paul
Based on the inspiring true-life story, Ruby! The Story of Ruby Bridges isn't just a play about a young girl coming of age in 1960s New Orleans. It's also about the civil rights movement, and the change enacted by the brave men and women fighting for equality. Depicted in a famous painting by Norman Rockwell, Bridges was the first African-American child to attend an all-white school in Louisiana, where the six-year-old youngster somehow found the courage to withstand vicious threats and discrimination on a daily basis. This powerful original play receives its world premiere at Saint Paul's SteppingStone Theatre in celebration of Black History Month.
