  Shoma at The Lab Theater

Shoma

The Lab Theater
700 N 1st St Minneapolis

A bridal party in Saudi Arabia, Bedouin folklore and Egyptian music come together in this magical desert story set in the Middle East. Jawaahir Dance Company's Shoma is set during a henna party on the eve of a bride's marriage. Shoma entertains the guests with a Bedouin folktale about Muna, a shepherdess who gets lost in a sandstorm and awakens in a mystical garden filled with fantastic plants and animals. Written by Arabian dance specialist Kay Hardy Campbell, the dance theater piece is steeped in Gulf Folklore and features live music, choreography by Jawaahir's Artistic Director Cassandra Shore, Karim Nagi in a leading role and the company's talented dancers. Travel to a distant land and immerse yourself in Arabian culture at the Lab Theater in the Warehouse District.
