The Drawer Boy at Lyric Arts Main Street Stage

The Drawer Boy

Lyric Arts Main Street Stage
420 East Main Street Anoka

A landmark work on the Canadian alternative theater scene, The Drawer Boy is a touching yet funny drama about friendship, memory and the loss of love. With a focus on the transformative power of storytelling, The Drawer Boy follows a young, idealistic actor from Toronto who's sent to research life on a farm in preparation for an upcoming role. There he encounters two men -- old friends who share a farmhouse in the Canadian countryside. During his time with the men, the actor unwittingly discovers a long-buried family secret that threatens to upend the lives of the two World War II veterans who own the farm. Now presented at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka, The Drawer Boy's original 2001 production was hailed by The New York Times as "such a beautifully written piece, humorous and heart-wrenching but never overwrought, that all you have to do is ride the vehicle the author has provided."
