The Underpants
Theatre in the Round
Twin Cities Pioneer Press- Somewhat Recommended
"....The TRP production is directed by Shanan Custer, who's sort of the Twin Cities own version of comic royalty. That's a lot of creative firepower before the play even hits the stage, but while the TRP production deals capably with many of the moods of this surprisingly layered story, the staging never quite feels as if it's hitting on all cylinders.
There are, for instance, plenty of moments of antic comedy, and these are executed with terrific energy -- particularly by John. T. Zeiler. As Louise's husband, Theo, he's pompous and self-important one moment and spastically upset the next. But those moments are like flash paper -- here and gone and only loosely connected to what's happening in the rest of the play."
