The Wong Kids in the Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go!

Children's Theatre Company
2400 3rd Ave S Minneapolis

In a story told in the visual style of a graphic novel with the brazen humor of Spaceballs, Violet and Bruce Wong just don't fit in with the other Earth kids. When a neighbor informs Violet and Bruce that an ancient evil beast called the Space Chupacabra is destroying planets, they must use their newly discovered superpowers to save the universe...if they can stop bickering. Violet and Bruce ultimately realize that being different isn't so bad when they have each other. Check out this world premiere production, co-produced with the distinguished Ma-Yi Theater Company before it heads to New York.

  Review Round-Up

Star Tribune - Recommended

"...The many messages in "Wong Kids" include ones about diversity. Both the heroes and the villain are outsiders who have been alienated because of their peculiarity. In fact, the villain wants to reduce the universe to dust so that everything and everyone will be the same. We can be thankful for their differences. These "Wong Kids" have got the right stuff."

Aisle Say Twin Cities - Highly Recommended

"...When you think of children’s theater, you might be picturing a show for kids that adults will also enjoy. I wouldn’t describe The Wong Kids that way, since as adults, you won’t be stuck fitting your laughs in sideways around the kid stuff. Go on your own, take a date, bring the kids if you’ve got ‘em, it doesn’t matter: if you’ve got a spark of imagination and a continued appreciation for space monsters, this is a zany, playful intergalactic adventure for all."
