Twelfth Night at Mixed Blood Theatre

Twelfth Night

Mixed Blood Theatre
1501 S 4th Street Minneapolis

Take a sweet romantic comedy, toss in a shipwreck, a pirate, mistaken identities, lots of cheap wine, love songs and wrongful imprisonment and you get Twelfth Night. Shakespeare's most footloose and fun comedy follows twins Viola and Sebastian after they become separated during a catastrophic shipwreck. Washing up on the shores of Illyria and thinking her brother dead, Viola dresses up in his clothes and disguises herself as a man. Later working as a servant in a duke's court, Viola (now known as Cesario) tries to gain favor among the powerful. Meanwhile, Sebastian must fend for himself aboard a pirate ship, only later winding up ... in Illyria. That's when the fun really begins. Mu Performing Arts presents the show at Mixed Blood Theatre with a lively and accessible Asian American-inspired twist and also featuring live music and loads of physical comedy.

How Was The Show - Recommended

"...Twelfth Night may not make a lot of sense, but it’s great fun and it’s a playground for actors and the Mu production, zestfully directed by Mu artistic director Randy Reyes (who also plays Feste) takes full advantage of the opportunities Shakespeare provides"
