Once Upon a Mattress, a fractured fairy tale musical comedy with music by Mary Rogers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and the book by Jay Thompson, Barer, and Dean Fuller, comes to The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson. The show takes a tongue-in-cheek look at The Princess and the Pea. Princess Winnifred arrives at Prince Dauntless the Drab's castle, hoping for the hand of the prince. His mother, Queen Agravain, insists that her son can only marry a princess of true blood -- one that can feel a pea that is underneath a pile of mattresses.
