Calendar Girls at Park Square Theatre

Calendar Girls

Park Square Theatre
20 W 7th Pl St. Paul

When Annie's husband dies of leukemia, she and her friends set out to raise funds for a local charity - by posing for a calendar in the nude. Positioned behind strategically placed flower arrangements, cakes, and knitting projects, the women discover the beauty within themselves and one another. When news of the women's hilariously provocative venture spreads like wildfire, they find themselves exposed in ways they hadn't anticipated, and reach for a new level of understanding and friendship that will carry them through the days to come.

  Calendar Girls Reviews

Twin Cities Pioneer Press - Somewhat Recommended

"...I'm all in favor of good scripts that provide quality performance opportunities to the Twin Cities' ample supply of chronologically seasoned actresses. "Calendar Girls" is, alas, not that kind of script. Sappy, simplistic and slow-witted, it is a thorough squandering of the talent that's been assembled on the stage."

Talkin Broadway - Highly Recommended

"...Do you want to leave the theater with a broad smile across your face? Do you want to see a play that delivers barrels of laughs and is also genuinely moving? Good news: Calendar Girls is that play, and it is now having its Minnesota premiere in a wonderful production mounted by Park Square Theatre on their Proscenium Stage. It's a little bit racy, but always in good taste; a little bit sentimental, but always sincere; and a little bit sharp tongued, but always good at heart."

Twin Cities Arts Reader - Recommended

"...Although the play is not a great work of art, it does succeed in establishing an identity separate from the movie upon which it is based. The wonderful cast with its great chemistry succeeds in making Calendar Girls a delightful summer comedy."
