"...Whether some of these rough patches came from the directing or the script is unclear. The high-pitched screech of Rosalinda (Amanda Weis) in the Zorro parody quickly grew old; the faux Mexican accents of her suitors would be considered quite offensive closer to our southern border. On the other hand, the courtship song "Come Be My Love" was a fun and delightful battle of one-upsmanship. The closing, though, was much less ambigious; a pleasant homage to Grease, Bye Bye Birdie, and others that swept the problems under the rug for a bang finish."

"...Kudos go to costume designer Joshua Stevens for helping flavor the Velveeta cheesiness of this production, and to a slick three-piece band (Matthew Bear, Alex Maiers, Paul David Stanko) for fueling the proceedings. "...New Century Theatre’s musical comedy, Five Course Love, is a light, sometimes naughty, cabaret-style evening of entertainment catering to the Valentine’s Day date-night crowd. The quality of the material is mixed, with some genuinely funny moments. The three performers, who play five characters each, give it everything they’ve got. Ryan McGuire Grimes, Amanda Weis, and Joseph Pyfferoen deserve special praise for carrying the entire show: each had a strong voice and great comedic timing, versatility and stage presence."
