A Few Good Men set for Bloomington Civic Theatre

A Few Good MenBloomington Theatre and Art Center is excited to announce A Few Good Men, a Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) production taking place in the Black Box Theater September 14 - October 7. A Few Good Men is directed by Zach Curtis.

A Few Good Men is a well-known play-turned-film by Aaron Sorkin (writer of The West Wing and The American President), produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. New York City. You may be familiar with the movie starring Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore and Tom Cruise; now see the more powerful and more intimate, original stage play. A Few Good Men is based on a true story of military lawyers at a court-martial defending two U.S. Marines who were accused of murder - and in the process, uncover a high-level conspiracy.

The cast of BCT's production of A Few Good Men includes Shad Cooper as 'Kaffee', Mike Postle as 'Sam', Emma Gochberg as 'Joanne', Eric Webster as 'Jessep', Dwight Gunderson as 'Markinson', Stephen Frethem as 'Kendrick', Josh Carlson as 'Dawson', A.J. Swanson as 'Downey', Randy Funk as 'Ross', Dann Peterson as 'Whitaker', Joel Raney as 'Stone', Charles Numerich as 'Judge Randolph', Corey Boe as 'Howard', Michael Terrell Brown as 'Santiago', and Joe Heaney as various roles.

Zach Curtis returns to BCT for his fourth production, after having staged The 39 Steps, Twelve Angry Men and Prisoner of Second Avenue. For six years, he was the Artistic Director for the Paul Bunyan Playhouse in Bemidji; Minnesota's longest running summer stock theater. In a previous life he was Artistic Director for Fifty Foot Penguin Theater in Minneapolis. He has directed over 75 professional productions, including the Actors Equity Showcase of A Streetcar Named Desire, the area premiere of Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, and the stagings of The Who's Tommy, Chicago and Sisters of Swing with Pioneer Place Theater Company in St. Cloud. His stagings have also been seen at Park Square Theatre, The Commonweal, Jon Hassler Theater, Theatre L'Homme Dieu and Actors Theatre of Minnesota.
