Sara Moore's Show Ho comes to Twin Cities

Performance artist and comedienne extraordinaire Sara Moore brings her cast of low-rent circus characters to the Cabaret at Camp Bar in Show Ho, October 11 - 14. The San Francisco Chronicle writes, "Show Ho pays off in connections, compassion, and yes, humor. Moore is a very talented comic with an exceptionally flexible voice and excellent physical control...theatrical gold."

Moore presents a gender bent and disarmingly honest tour de force with Show Ho. This hilarious and poignant romp follows Moore's quirky clown alter-ego, Rhonda Hammerstein, who joins a low-rent circus, along with a posse of characters who are too weird or strange or queer to live anywhere else. Along with Truly, her clown partner who contracts AIDS, and Caroline, a tall and glamorous showgirl, Rhonda must face the two great dramas of life: love and death. Yet, she manages to come out swinging.

Assuming different voices, mannerisms, and postures, Moore portrays just about every circus character imaginable, from the ring leader and the clown boss to the fat lady and the aerialists. "You've probably never seen a performer take on such a variety of funny, quirky personae and segue so fluidly among them," says the San Francisco Examiner.

Sara Moore is an eccentric comedienne and playwright. Realizing a traditional acting career wasn't going to pan out for her, she ran away to the circus where she worked with Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey, Circus World, and Merv Griffin. She also worked Off-Broadway for a while where she wrote and directed her debut film Homo Heights, an offbeat GLBT comedy produced by Twin Cities' independent film producer Kate Lehmann.
