Actors Theater adds a little TUNA to the Holiday Fare
Oct 26, 2012

A Tuna Christmas St Paul MinneapolisActors Theater of Minnesota presents Peter Simmons and Scott Jorgenson in the hysterical, holiday hit, A Tuna Christmas, playing at the Cabaret at Camp Bar November 30 - December 30. Under the direction of Zach Curtis, Simmons and Jorgenson master the art of the quick-change as they portray all 24 citizens of Tuna, Texas, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.

It's 24 hours before Christmas in Tuna, Texas, the "third-smallest town" in the state, and all comic hell is about to break loose as the delightfully eccentric residents attempt to cope with seasonal traumas. In addition to the regular stress and tension that comes with the holidays, a mysterious Christmas Phantom has been vandalizing the yard displays in the town's annual Christmas Yard Display Contest, threatening to throw the contest into turmoil. And if that wasn't trouble enough, the disaster-prone production of A Christmas Carol is falling apart!

With their spot-on comedic timing, Saturday Night Live-esque characters, and record-setting costume changes, Peter Simmons and Scott Jorgenson are a dynamic delight. The two are no strangers to comedy, however. Simmons has concentrated on comedy for most of his 30-year career, performing as a stand-up comic, co-founding Theater Sportz improv competition in Minneapolis, and for the past 19 years, playing dozens of roles for Mystery Cafe Comedy Dinner Theater. Jorgenson has appeared previously in Actors Theater's productions of We Gotta Bingo, Tony 'N' Tina's Wedding, and Fezziwig's Feast, as well as numerous other plays and films around the Twin Cities.

Written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, A Tuna Christmas is the holiday follow-up to their cult-classic Greater Tuna, which premiered in 1981 in Austin, TX. A Tuna Christmas debuted in 1989. Both plays take an affectionate, albeit satirical, look at small-town, Southern life.

A Tuna Christmas plays November 30 - December 30, at the Cabaret at Camp Bar, 490 North Robert Street, Saint Paul, MN, 55101. Performances are at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. General admission tickets are $29.00 for Thursday and Sunday performances and $34.00 for Friday and Saturday. VIP tickets with preferred seating are also available for $39.50, and a special group rate of $24.50 per ticket is available for parties of eight or more. Tickets are available at BrownPaperTickets.com or by calling 800-838-3006. More information is available at ActorsMN.com/TunaChristmas.
