True Love retells the ancient story of Phaedra and Hippolytus in a gritty, innovative context. When her husband Richard’s car breaks down, Polly is left with her stepson to fend for herself in a mechanic shop/beauty salon filled with unique and memorable characters just as Phaedra was left to wait for Theseus to return in the ancient tale. An eclectic mix of live musicians stands in for a Greek Chorus, ancient gods may interfere in mortals’ lives from time to time and, like Phaedra before her, Polly just can't seem to resist sleeping with her stepson.
