My Fair Lady

Bloomington Center for the Arts
1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd. Bloomington

Long requested by BCT audiences, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion” brings beauty, style and grace to the stage and offers a pleasing vision for the eye. Enjoy familiar songs like “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” “The Rain in Spain,” and “Get Me to the Church on Time,” along with production numbers that will have you dancing in the aisles! In June 1961, the show became the longest-running production in Broadway history, outdistancing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, which had held that record until that time.

  My Fair Lady Reviews

Star Tribune - Somewhat Recommended

"... The main weakness is the direction of Lewis E. Whitlock III. He doesn't direct as much as simply stage the show, copying moments right out of the movie. He adds a level of broad comedy, such as Alfred P. Doolittle's scratching himself outrageously in Henry Higgins' study, that competes with the wit and sophistication of the script."
