Star Tribune- Recommended

"...Surprisingly, "Snowflake" is neither dull nor tiring. The show holds our attention for its duration as LaJoye uses myriad ways to entertain himself, and us. Snowflake finds a pair of skis and does a ski dance, call it a ski ballet, that seems pretty effortless. He sometimes looks like he is performing an optical illusion as he glides and pirouettes in slow motion."

"...Without giving away too much, the story of Snowflake follows an evening in the life of an individual whose world is filled with slapstick and puppetry. The organic way that one routine knits tightly into the next is magical, and Gay LaJoye (his own sort of triple threat as writer, director, and performer) displays masterful timing and nuance. Victor Zupanc's score subtly heightens moods and moments, and the technical ensemble - swinging set pieces, matryoshka doll-like surprises, and a sort of tennis ballet - is so finely done as to put the live vaudeville the show hearkens back to shame."

"...At 65 minutes in length, "Snowflake" travels a leisurely path, and for some young audiences raised on the immediate gratification of cable TV and iPads, the show may feel like it has its slow spots. But the show encourages and rewards patience. By the time he settles into his bed -- an old VW bug that, like everything else in his world, has been repurposed and given new life -- Snowflake will have almost certainly won a place in your heart."
